1. Wash your hands

Step 1

Start by washing your hands thoroughly to avoid transferring
bacteria to your face.

2. TAKE YOUR TIME & BE GENTLE

Step 2

Use a gentle makeup remover or micellar water on a cotton pad to remove eye makeup. Hold the pad over your closed eye for a few seconds to allow the product to dissolve the makeup, then gently wipe away.

3. USE A CLEANSER DESIGNED TO REMOVE MAKEUP

Step 3

Use a cleansing lotion to remove the rest of your makeup. Apply a small amount to your face and massage it in using circular motions.

4. MAKE SURE TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE EDGES OF YOUR EYELID

Step 4

Wet a washcloth with warm water and wring it out. Use the washcloth to gently wipe away the cleansing lotion.

5. COTTON PADS ARE BETTER THAN COTTON BALLS

Step 5

If you wear heavy or waterproof makeup, you may need to repeat steps 2-4 to ensure all makeup is removed, or go in with a waterproof makeup remover.

6. USE A CIRCULAR, UPWARD MOTION

Step 6

Use a cleanser to wash your face. Massage the cleanser into your skin using circular motions, then rinse with warm water.

7. Use a toner afterwards to remove further traces of dirt

Step 7

Pat your face dry with a clean towel.

8. Always moisturise afterwards

Step 8

Apply your usual skincare products, such as toner, serum, and moisturiser.

HOW TO REMOVE WATERPROOF MASCARA?

If you leave mascara on your eyelashes overnight, the fine hairs might break. But what is the best way to remove mascara as gently as possible?

Water-soluble mascara can gently be removed with micellar water. However, if you need to remove waterproof mascara, micellar cleansing wipes or special eye makeup removers are a good choice. They effortlessly and gently remove eye shadow, eyeliner and waterproof makeup from your skin and eyelashes.

Steps to Remove Waterproof Mascara

  • Soak pad with eye makeup remover or micellar water. Special eye makeup removers, such as NIVEA's Daily Essentials Extra Gentle Eye Makeup Remover or Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover, remove even waterproof mascara and soothe the sensitive eye area at the same time.
  • Apply with light pressure to your closed eyelid, allow to soak for a short time - the mascara will dissolve smoothly.
  • After a few seconds (count to 5), wipe the mascara carefully with a cotton pad downward or from the inside to the outside.
  • Repeat until the mascara is completely removed.
Be careful:

When removing makeup from your eyes, it's important to be as gentle as possible. Mechanical stress such as heavy rubbing or scrubbing can irritate the sensitive skin around the eyes, which may lead to redness and eye wrinkles.
